In the past, ship’s logs were used in navigation. This is where captains recorded all important events: departure date, date of voyage and observations about the places they passed through. All measurements taken were noted down and later reported to mathematicians, astronomers… scholars would then take these notes and create theories to describe the world. In turn, ship captains would study these theories and, according to recommendations from scientists, take even more complex and detailed notes on their following voyages, thereby developing the field of science!

Create maps of places you know, associating your photos with them and descriptions of your visit there. Even if it’s not a ship’s log, it’s still a great way to record your trips and discoveries.
